Change the unfairness if this old outdated law. Make it more modern and fair to all parties involved! Be fair to the fathers mothers and children and their jobs and each case individually not painted with the same brush! Equality for all based on the modern era.

This system needs to looked at with a fine tooth comb , I’m paying child support as I live with the person and we have the same address and I have to pay the bills around the house , that’s what a father has to go through to see his kids . I got to the point where I couldn’t take the abuse . So I have been putting thousands of dollars into the system to see my kids and it has done nothing for me . I have done demostic special endless amounts of dro’s and kids specialist . And she holds the kids from me when I go to there sporting events because that’s the only way I can even see how there doing .

As for child support I we should both have that financial support to the children without double dipping through the mep system . I work hard to pay my bills and try to stay above water but it works against me in the new year , then when we hit a recession I get hit hard . Half goes to the taxes and the other half goes to the ex . Guys are not able to claim any of that lose wage and we get hit on the taxes for that as well . And on top of this my ex is in family law and nows the system very well and double dips into the system with financials and they don’t look into that but just keep charg g the account when I pay for that stuff on my monthly fees .Living in the system of mep is not to be fair on both ends . I’d honestly be on the streets if I did t have people in my life that didn’t love me .

The ex plays with the kids heads and they even tell me this when I get the chance to talk with them . I had kids with the person I thought I can trust and make this a magical moment and life for the intrest of our kids but ended up making this the biggest burden in life .

All around it should be fair and not one sided as I also love my children . This is a very hard life to live under this system and causes a lot of problems with loved ones in our life

The CS guidelines are biased and unfair especially during a separation when the Payor may be required to pay the mortgage on the matrimonial home and other matrimonial debts and he may also have kids outside the marriage (the guidelines don’t care about the kids outside the support order). None of this is taken into consideration before Judges award support based on the guidelines. This system is a farce and needs to be changed. Payor’s are herded like cattle and all lumped together in one pile.

Among other issues you are absolutely right. We could not agree more.

I say if anyone knows about the birth certificate cash grab and how they force abandonment of your child. Then why don’t they take the good with the bad and use the account to pay off your support. I mean legally they have to be obligated to do just that they are the owners of the people children legally so don’t be the dead beat govt and take care of the orders dead beats

Call it the maintenance program. There is no need need to enforce, against parents. Anyone who is both fortunate and blessed with the reponsibility of children can figure out how to make their livehoods grow naturally with raising their children and grandchildren. A GUIDELINE IS OK, but laws about what should be used by each unique family or seperation is a bit insane. It is a surety that ALL families may face some time of turmoil and economic hardship enforcing when that happens is dumb, helping when that happens is ideal. The mEp program ruins childhoods and when that happens the productivity of the country declines because future well being is no longer valued inits natural state. Family law belongs at the dinner table not at the court house I don’t think the judges enjoy being everyone grandparents, they have their own family problems to deal with.

How is taking licenses, garnishing wages, and adding to the pressure and stress of life productive for people that are only struggling with tough economic times?
This system is sick. Really sick. I want to know 1 statistic. Of the few thousand men that commit suicide each year in Canada, how many are enrolled in a MEP program? Where can we find this? How many children have we left fatherless since this all began? We need enforcement, but there’s a better way. I just read NS is moving to take money even if you have no arrears. Wow. Don’t they have enough power and resources now? When will they be happy? We better start bringing in more immigrant men to replace the ones we are killing here.
How are the deadbeats getting away with what they do when the hardworking good men that are making every effort they can are living with a noose around their necks? Or is this bull shit? Are there really that many deadbeats getting away with it? Or is this something that they want the public to believe? Does MEP make woman working in the program write up lies in forums? I know there are truly woman that don’t get anything and are struggling, but I don’t believe the number is as big as it is.

Agreed. I am a working mom and have worked 3-4 part time jobs all my life to make it work and comply with unfair court order. And have suffered unfair judgement all my life. Who can honestly manage to work 24/7 and not burn out.
The system is quite unfair and confusing and corrupted. And court fees ( unreal) 8 years of court involvement is way more then a 100 000$
Who can afford that? Not even gonna get started on legal aid and community legal clinic etc…
You gotta know the system and work together not against each other.
God is the only one that can restore brokenness.

Is there a petition started to have the tables updated or changed?

I am currently in a terrible situation because of MEP Alberta. After suffering an heart attack earlier this year, right after the divorce was finialized. My ex wife thought it would be a good time to cash in on her 4 year old court order based on wages I only wish I still had. So here I am on sickness benefits being charged an amount for child support which was almost as much as my total monthly income. I tried calling MEP to explain my situation, and to explain how my daughter didn’t even live with her mother!! She lived with her grandmother!! but from my responses from MEP it seems I am already considered a “deadbeat”. I guess due to not being unable to make the “full payment amount” on time and some arrears was already accumulating. I also do not qualify for the recalculation program due to my living in another province. I have requested for my file to be transferred to the province I live in so I can apply for recalculation, but have been waiting over 3 months. I cannot afford a lawyer, have been rejected by legal aid twice, and to top it off after paying for plane tickets myself for my daughter to spend the summer with me. My humble EI wages are now being garnished at over a 50% rate, so I will be unable to afford my living expenses let alone afford to buy a return ticket for my daughter. MEP is ruining my life and I feel helpless. Right now.

How can someone just walk in with a piece of paper that is 4 years old and it be taken as current?? How can so many things occur (including garnishing) without even someone making sure the court order is accurate? If this was a criminal investigation and MEP were the cops, they would be fired immediately and everything would be thrown out of court.

MEP is a criminal organization hiding under the wing of an American company in control. Money is not being sent to the payees and disappears in their system, but never miss a payment cause you get jail time. they have destroyed more lives than have helped. Even the ones they are supposed to be helping get screwed(The kids) because now the kids are a financial asset and they take advantage of that. What ever happened to fairness and honesty? MEP doesn’t believe in that just money. Why? Because, were does the lost and misplaced money go?

MEP helps lawyers create legal plunder and makes it easier for women to run and claim abuse get money from dads.Mothers drop the kids off at daycare and get subsidized from government. Daycare’s raise your children. Family courts are one sided because they make a lot of money creating conflict. Government brings millions of none tax payers into the country but does little to promote families in this country they make it harder on us so they can feed off broken families.

My son’s ex wife left the country to live in Mexico with a man 20 years older than her and took my 2 grandchildren with her. The court order said my son gets the kids every 3rd week which does not happen he has not seen his kids for 6 months and maintenance enforcement takes his money.this is so unfair. He has no money left to even pay his honest bills. I think these judges need to smarten up and stop taking this wanton woman’s side

Through helping a friend try to find ‘justice’ within the BC FMEPS, I’ve just now come across your organization and cruised through about 20 ‘posts’. I am absolutely horrified by the stories I have read, which may now explain why my friend hasn’t/wasn’t getting anywhere with his either queries nor his complaints. Nor with the RCMP whom, I might add, appear to be duplicitous connivers in this ‘shell game’ (FMEPS) masquerading as a legit BC Government Department.

While trying to find useful information about BC FMEPS, I did a quick search on the ‘contractor’ and inadvertently found this gem:
…the 2017 Office of Auditor General report – which may well help people who have been wronged by these corporate thieves, especially if looking to get together to develop a class action suit (perhaps trick is to find an out-of-province lawyer who also practices in BC or even a lawyer who practices in federal administrative law).

Point here is the former BC Gov’t (BC Liberals) appears wholly complicate in that it kept renewing the contract (via 42+ “modification agreements” – i.e. amendments) without putting it to a true & well publicized ‘open tender’ WITHOUT ever doing any in-depth qualitative or quantitative analysis of the contractor’s true effectiveness/performance nor following up on the vast amount of complaints to and through various ministries. I say ‘follow the money’ and find which former Ministers took ‘lobby’ lunches with these corporate pariahs (no disrespect to my Tamil friends by using the word).

This former BC company (which may now be wholly owned by a USA company — more research needed…see next paragraph) is wholly subsidized to the tune of $18+ million dollars per year by BC Taxpayers while ruining the lives of BC taxpayers…go figure. I am truly aghast at such an abysmal embarrassment…makes me ashamed to be Canadian, let alone born & bred in BC. Grrr!

Here’s an excerpt: ”Themis Management, under different ownership, continues to hold the contract to provide the services of the FMEP. Themis’ parent company, Gaea Management Ltd., was purchased by Maximus Canada Inc. in 2002 …” …OAG 2017. Then look at this article: which provides an overview of their ‘crimes’ in the USA.

Best to get ahold of all of the past 5+ reports (see chart pg.13 of Background) through Ministry of Justice a Provincial Archives. Please read the two URLS listed as, if nothing else, it will give your group ‘food for thought’ and something to ‘open’ conversations with your local MLA or MP….and the BC Ombudsman. Too bad our BC Human Rights Tribunal doesn’t truly include Civil Rights.

    Onward & Upward.
