TV Star Jon Cryer Must Pay Child Support for Son in His Custody

Jon Cryer has been forced to pay his former wife $8,000 a month in child support, despite having close to full custody of their son.

The Two And A Half Men actor, who has been in and out of court with ex-Sarah Trigger Cryer for years, lost his appeal in the California Court Of Appeals yesterday, according to TMZ.

The 46-year-old star had claimed that he shouldn’t have to pay his ex-wife such a large amount of money because she has very little parental rights to their nine-year-old boy, Charlie Austin.

Following their 2004 divorce, Cryer was granted more custody after a family court deemed Trigger ‘not a fit parent’.

Trigger was arrested in May 2009 in relation to suspicion of child abuse.

At the time of the incident, police received a call from her new husband in relation to their two-year-old son, who had sustained injuries, reportedly on his neck.

Sources told TMZ the boy’s neck had rope or cord marks present when police arrived.

Trigger was subsequently arrested for suspicion of child abuse, but was later released on $100,000 bail.

Regardless, yesterday an appeals court ruled that if they were to reduce Trigger’s child support from Cryer, it would have a detrimental effect on their child.

‘Although, understandably, Jon may have found the situation unfair, the primary focus must remain on the child’s well-being, not the parents’ feelings,’ the court said.
